V románu Jo Watson Já a ty, navždy se spisovatelka Becca potýká s tvůrčím blokem; po pádu výtahu sice přežije, ale roztržená kabelka odhalí stoh nádherných milostných dopisů, které ji inspirují k napsání nové knihy. Becca se vydává pátrat po autorovi dopisů, což ji zavede do Willow Bay, kde potká přitažlivého policistu Mikea a zároveň zjistí, že dopisy obsahují kus historie Jižní Afriky z roku 1948 (apartheid). První polovina románu je ztřeštěná a komická, druhá vážnější a autorka ukazuje určitou proměnu hlavní hrdinky; podle recenze však kniha čtenáře neuruší ani nenadchne a naplní očekávání jen částečně.
