Toskánska sestra je román o Lucrezii, ktorá sa po otcovej smrti vracia do rodičovského domu v Toskánsku, musí rodine priznať zdrvujúcu pravdu, riešiť dlhy hrozící stratou domu a znovu nadväzuje citové puto s Vannim, svojou láskou z detstva. Autorka, pôvodom Talianka, píše v talianskom štýle, ktorý recenzentka označuje za niekedy strohý a drsnejší; silný dej podľa nej zakrýva nedostatky spisovateľského štýlu, preto knihe udelila 3/5 (obálke 4/5), pričom pochválila prostredie, sesterské putá a tajomstvá medzi rodinami. Napriek výhradám sa recenzentka teší na pokračovanie venované druhej sestre a verí, že autorka čoskoro napíše príbehy všetkých štyroch.

Hlavná hrdinka Lucrezia sa po dvanástich rokoch vracia do rodného domu Casalta, kde musí čeliť dedičstvu plnému dlhov a snahe znovu nadviazať vzťahy so svojimi sestrami, z ktorých každá má v príbehu svoj nadprirodzený dar. Autorka postupne odhaľuje tajomstvá mocnej talianskej rodiny; dej je miestami predvídateľný a niektoré situácie by si zaslúžili viac priestoru, pričom recenzentke najviac utkvela postava Vanniho a húževnatosť Lucrezie. Kniha zanecháva zmiešané pocity, no zároveň vyvoláva záujem pokračovať v sérii.
