Coreyho, ktorý prináša viac napätia, konfliktov a odhalených tajomstiev; centrálne v ňom figuruje protomolekula, ktorá mení Venušu a hrozí rozšírením do celej slnečnej sústavy. Na Ganymede sa objavuje supervojak, ktorý masakruje jednotky, zatiaľ čo Holden a posádka lode Rocinante pátrajú po zmiznutom dieťati a snažia sa zabrániť možno začatej mimozemskej invázii; recenzentka vyzdvihuje postavu Avasaraly a prínos Praxa a Bobbie, spomína aj romantickú linku medzi Holdenom a Naomi.
