Eragon cestuje se Safirou do elfské Ellesméry, kde podstupuje výcvik v kouzlení a boji, zatímco elfové mu nedůvěřují a on se musí zapojit do politických her, aby dokázal, že nechce být jako Galbatorix. Současně sledujeme Roranův boj o přežití se spoluvesničany, který recenzentce přišel nejzajímavější. Čtení se jí táhlo a druhý díl ji nudil kvůli elfským intrikám a Eragonovu zamilovanému výrazu, přesto kniha končí velkolepou bitvou s předvídatelným odhalením a recenze hodnotí díl 3 hvězdičkami.
