Kniha Trinásť od Stevea Cavanagha rozpráva o filmovej hviezde Robertovi Solomonovi, ktorý je obvinený z vraždy svojej manželky a jej ochrankára, a do tímu obhajoby je prizvaný bývalý podvodník a teraz právnik Eddie Flynn. Príbeh je vedený z dvoch pohľadov — sledujeme Eddieho snahy na súde aj znepokojujúce myšlienky Joshuu Kanea, pričom už z obalu sa dozvieme, že vrah manipuluje porotu, čo vytvára silné napätie. Hoci je začiatok pomalší, súdny proces je strhujúci, Eddie je presvedčivá postava a záver je síce miestami prehnaný, no rozuzlenie a odpovede stoja za to. Knihu možno zaradiť medzi právnické trillery; motív vrah v porote je originálny a u nás vyšla ako prvá časť série Eddie Flynn.
