Román sleduje Priscu, jejíž zakázaná moc je odhalena, takže musí uprchnout a spojí se se žoldákem, který ji naučí ovládat temnou sílu, zatímco jeho vlastní tajemství ohrožují nejen její blízké, ale i celý svět. Recenzentka kritizuje český překlad a redakční dohled – konkrétně nesmyslné formulace typu „Můžeš si mě vzít“/„Vezmi si mě“, používání „vílů“ pro fae a další zjevné chyby, které jí kazí čtení. Hlavní dvojice jí připadá nevyvážená: Lorian jako egoistický hajzl a Prisca jako přehnaně schopná „superhrdinka“, některé části příběhu jsou zmatečné (nesoulad názvů na mapě) a závěr nevyvolal očekávané napětí. Za to vše dává knize 3 hvězdičky a je zklamaná, očekávala víc.
