Dej Lightlark sa odohráva na ostrove Lightlark, ktorý sa každých sto rokov vynára na bájnu Storočnicu — krvavé hry, pri ktorých sa vládcovia prekliatych ríš môžu oslobodiť od svojej kliatby, no jedinou podmienkou je, že jeden z nich musí zomrieť; hlavná hrdinka Isla Crownová sa snaží zachrániť svoj Divokraj, hoci by to znamenalo klamať, zradiť alebo zabiť, a pritom sa nečakane zamiluje. Kniha baví najmä vďaka pútavému svetu, napätým politickým hrám a množstvu intríg, pričom najsilnejšie pôsobia vedľajšie postavy, hoci tempo v polovici spomalí a niektoré situácie znejú príliš podľa scenára.
