Píseň krve od Anthonyho Ryana som si vybral ako oddychovku kvôli hype a očakávaniam — našiel som fajn worldbuilding, jemnú mágiu, neohrozeného hrdinu, súboje a intrigy, no napriek tomu ma sprevádzal pocit nudy. Kniha sleduje Vélinovu cestu od dieťaťa poslaného do kláštora Šiesteho rádu až po objav zakázanej Temnej sily, pričom prostredie pôsobí ako fantasy variácia na univerzitné štúdium. Hlavný problém vidím v tom, že Vélin má prakticky stále aktívnu zbroj („plot armour“), vďaka čomu sú hrozby často zdanlivé, riešenia sa preklápajú do násilia a príbeh je predvídateľný. Záver však príbeh i svet osvieži — politické intrigy, odhalenia Siedmeho rádu a Vernierov komentár dodávajú knihe váhu, takže ako debut stojí za zváženie pokračovania.
