Recenzia hodnotí Stephen Kingovu knihu Carrie (horor, Vydavateľstvo Ikar, 280 s.), ktorá sleduje sedemnásťročnú outsiderku trpiacu fanaticky pobožnou matkou. Carrie objaví telekinetické schopnosti a po surovom ponížení na školskom plese nastáva ničivé pomstychtivé finále. Recenzentka chváli mozaikovú štruktúru románu, ktorá postupne stupňuje napätie a umožňuje porozumieť vývoju hlavnej hrdinky, pričom zdôrazňuje, že k jej osudu výrazne prispela šikana a matkin fanatizmus. Hoci ide o horor, pre autorku zostáva predovšetkým smutným príbehom o zlyhaní spoločnosti, ktorý inšpiroval filmové adaptácie (De Palma 1976, moderné spracovanie s Julianne Moore).
