Román Kartografova dcéra od americkej autorky Clare Marchant je historickým príbehom inšpirovaným skutočnými udalosťami, ktorý vás zavedie do Holandska a Londýna a odkrýva tajomstvá tvorby máp. V dvoch prepletajúcich sa dejových linkách sledujeme Robyn, tridsiatničku, ktorá po strate manžela nájde v rodnom Hay-on-Wye záhadnú mapu, a 16. storočnú kartografku Freidu, protestantku z Holandska, ktorú poverí vytvorením mapy samotná kráľovná Alžbeta a ktorá čelí nebezpečenstvám zo strany Španielov. Marchant, vyštudovaná historička, pútavo vykresľuje dobu Tudorovcov a prostredníctvom striedania časových rovín a silných ženských postáv ponúka emocionálny, pomalší dej vhodný pre milovníkov historických románov a čitateľov zvedavých na pozadie mapárskeho remesla.

Román spája dve dejové línie: v súčasnosti Robyn, ktorá po zmiznutí manžela Nate objaví u otca v Hay‑on‑Wye záhadnú, veľmi detailnú mapu, a v 16. storočí Freidu, protestantskú kartografku, ktorú kráľovná Alžbeta poverí vygravírovaním mapy pre moreplavca Francisa Drakea. Autorka podľa recenzentky výborne vykresľuje remeslo kartografie a Freidina línia je emotívna, napínavá a najpôsobivejšia, zatiaľ čo Robynina súčasná linka pôsobí plocho a nevyvoláva očakávané emócie. Historické pozadie zostáva skôr kulisou a hoci kniha recenzentke nesplnila úplne očakávania, bohaté opisy a fakt, že niektorí si v nej nájdu to svoje, jej dávajú hodnotu.
