Recenzentka chváli bohatú svetotvorbu a doplnky ako mapu, rodokmeň, slovník, prehľad postáv a vizuál. Zároveň však upozorňuje, že deju chýba jasný ťah, kniha pôsobí, akoby začínala uprostred série, a preto je pre ňu pomalá, mätúca a nevhodná ako úvodný diel.

Autorka ponúka prepracovaný úvod s pojmami, vlastným jazykom a naznačeným worldbuildingom, no samotný svet zostáva povrchný, mnohé vysvetlenia chýbajú a dej sa točí najmä okolo opakovaných hádok a vratkých rozhodnutí Raeve, čo je po čase monotónne. Kniha má silné akčné scény, zaujímavú terminológiu a uspokojivý záver s odhaleniami, no recenzentka ju opisuje ako vizuálny majstrovský zážitok so slabšou dejovou linkou, teda zmiešané dojmy.
